The Just One Project

The Project is an IRS 501C3 organization that was created as a vehicle to raise funds to deliver student athlete financial education programs for students ranging from middle school through high school and including college.

Our hope is that through the Just One Project we can  provide financial literacy education that will reach students and provide the life skills for their future even if they don’t “go pro”. But by using athletics as the draw, we feel that we can reach a specific underserved area of students

While the leagues and the players unions have made small efforts to reverse the trend and to teach the rookie athletes about finances, the adage of “Too Little Too Late” may apply.  The rookie symposiums bring in outside speakers on topics of investments and taxes. However, by the time an athlete is drafted, he/she has already formulated relationships with often unscrupulous or inexperienced financial advisors, furthermore by the time the player has become a “rookie” and received his first contract, any hope to change the mindset of a 20-year-old millionaire is gone.

Our Leadership

Jonathan Miller, CPA, Co-Founder and President of The Just 1 Project, brings 30 years of experience in Sports and Entertainment Management. After witnessing athletes struggle with financial mismanagement and inadequate support, Jonathan founded Star Cross Management and later The Just 1 Project, to advocate for financial literacy and ethical guidance for athletes.

Commitment to Financial Education

Jonathan’s passion for educating athletes stems from a belief that everyone should have access to the tools needed for financial success. He is committed to helping athletes understand their finances and make well-informed decisions. At The Just 1 Project, our goal is to foster financial awareness in athletes, encouraging them to ask questions and actively participate in managing their future.

Community-Driven Approach

The Just 1 Project believes financial education should start at the middle and high school levels and continue through college and into professional sports. We help athletes build their financial skills early on to prepare for their future, whether that includes continued sports involvement or career transitions. Our programs focus on long-term financial literacy, empowering athletes to create sustainable opportunities beyond their playing days.
